Error in GSTR Utility Version 1.2 – Solved

GST Portal has published Offline GST Returns Utilities so that return can be prepared easily without internet. These utilities are also helpful where there is large amount of data to be feeded for the return. But on using the GSTR Utility 1.2 we found that there is an error in the utility if Your there has been multiple tax rates in a single invoice.

Solution: To resolve this issue we recommend you to Use the old Utility i.e. version 1.1 to generate Json file instead of version 1.2.

Official Tally Solution has also published a advisory for the general public in this regard which is as follows:

Dear Tax payer, GSTR Utility

This is an important advisory from Tally if you deal in invoices with multiple tax rates.

We understand that there might be an issue with the latest version of the offline utility tool (V1.2) when it is importing invoices having multiple rates. This can potentially lead to an erroneous return which you will not be able to discover while filing.

Under such circumstances, we urge you to use the earlier version of the tool (V1.1) for extracting the required JSON file to be used for filing.

You can download the same from  For Downloading – click this link.

Please note that this is a suggestion by us in your best interests.

Please do take necessary care while filing.

Issued in tax payer interest by Tally Solutions!

  3. I was facing the same issue . If you are copying data from excel file and pasting it in to GST workbook template , check following points.
    1. GST Number should Exact 15 Characters, Spaces before or after GST number will not insert the data on portal. (No error occurs during importing file in offline tool.)
    2. Before copying data from Excel file to template, Save the excel file as .csv (Comma delimited ) format and pick data from .csv file.
This resolved my issue and all data gets transferred in GSTR1.
